Coney Glen, Knysna

Best locations for wedding shoots

A magical setting to create memories to last a lifetime.

There are many reasons why Knysna should be your first choice when planning your perfect wedding. Now that you’ve booked your wedding venue, picked your flowers and bouquet, tasted a variety of wedding cakes and even found the most romantic of honeymoon suites, it’s time to think about the most magical spots to have your wedding photos taken in Knysna.

On the beach

With white sands and sparkling blue waves in the background, wedding photos at the beach are always a popular choice.

Buffalo Bay’s Wildside beach offers more of a rough beach backdrop, with the nearby Goukamma River mouth playing a more tranquil wedding photography location.

The beach at Brenton-on-Sea offers a bit of variety. Have your photos taken along the endless sandy bay, or amongst the magnificent boulders and Castle Rock.

At Bollard Bay on Leisure Island you can include iconic aspects of Knysna in your wedding photos: the Knysna lagoon and the magnificent Knysna Heads in the background – true representations of Knysna’s romance.

Coney Glen at The Heads is a dramatic location with its rocky shore and the wide expanse of the Indian Ocean stretching into the distance.

Noetzie’s beach will set your photoshoot against a romantic backdrop of castles, on a beach, surrounded by forests.

On the water

Staying on the water, wedding photos on a luxury yacht on the Knysna estuary are sure to be unique mementos of your dream wedding day.

A stunning alternative to ocean-themed wedding photos is to have your memories captured beneath the emerald canopy of the mysterious and magical Knysna Forest. The pine plantations on the road to Gouna allow for fun photos in between the trees, while the forests further along the road will create a tranquil setting for romantic wedding photos.

For something different, Knysna’s Red Bridge will add an old-world charm to your photos with its rustic bridge set against the Knysna River and surrounding greenery.

Include some gentle giants

If you want truly original wedding photos, and to add an extra-special experience to your day, head to the Knysna Elephant Park. Even if you haven’t chosen them to host your wedding, couples may book an hour to have their pictures taken with the elephants. The opportunity to make these gentle giants a part of your wedding day is a privilege you should consider taking advantage of.
