Sundays at Totties in Rheenendal is really all about the kids. However if you consider their hearty country fare there’s no doubt that both kids and parents will love a morning out in the countryside.
Formerly operating in Knysna, the Knysna Model Train in Rheenendal recently re-opened at Totties. In 2017 the entire infrastructure of the model railway that had been painstakingly built by a group of retired mechanical engineers, was destroyed in the Knysna fire. Happily, the members of the Knysna Model Engineers Society have rebuilt it and it has now been installed and launched on a field next to Totties Farm Kitchen in Rheenendal.
A fun day for all
Take a drive out to the countryside on a Sunday morning and let your kids be entertained in the interactive garden with train rides, supervised games and trampolines. There’s also a Fairy Garden for the littlies. It’s a wonderful way to while away a Sunday morning in the outdoors.
Scrumptious eats
Right next door you can have breakfast or lunch at the popular Totties restaurant which offers a large variety of dishes carefully and freshly prepared for breakfast, tea and lunch. It’s fully licensed and has an extensive menu.
How to get there
To get to Totties from Knysna, take the N2 towards George and turn right at the Jubilee Creek turnoff onto the Rheenendal Road. Continue for about 15 km and you will see the restaurant on the right hand side of the road. There is plenty of parking.
Add a picnic
Make a full day of your excursion and pack a picnic basket to enjoy on the field. Take your own chairs and umbrella.
For an alternative picnic spot, the Krisjan se Nek picnic site in the Gouna Forest is just 4 km up the road. A further 5 km into the forest will take you to Jubilee Creek. Follow the directions from the Rheenendal Road.
