What a day for a daydream … if it’s too late to change your plans and book another night or two, here are some ideas on how to spend the best day of your holiday in the greater Knysna area.
Start the day with a walk along the beautiful beach from Brenton on Sea to Buffalo Bay. After you’ve worked up an appetite, head back to Knysna for breakfast with a view.
Take a drive to the Knysna Elephant Park to meet the gentle residents of the sanctuary. The “Meet our Herd” experiences depart at 11h00, 12h00 and 13h00.
That gives you enough time to enjoy a leisurely lunch at Thesen Harbour Town or the Knysna Waterfront before embarking on your exciting whale or dolphin watching trip or any of the other amazing boat excursions on offer. Find out if your trip launches from the Knysna Waterfront or Thesen Harbour Town before you book your table. Both spots have excellent restaurants to choose from, making it convenient to eat close to where your trip will depart from.
After your trip discover the nectar the area has on tap at one of the popular, local craft breweries or distilleries. South Africa has stringent road safety laws – especially when it comes to drinking and driving. So, if you plan on enjoying a craft beer or two, rather ask your guesthouse or one of the Visitor Information Centres for the number of one of the taxi services operating in the area.
Your taxi can then drop you off to enjoy a sunset dinner cruise or at your restaurant of choice. You’ll find a variety of restaurants to choose from in the area, from delicious delicacies for discerning palates to fabulous, fun fare for families.
Make sure to check the local calendar for any live entertainment or other events scheduled while you are in the area.
For your one night in Knysna why not spoil yourself to a unique overnight experience like sleeping in the trees, on a houseboat, or even with the elephants! Or simply relax at your comfortable accommodation establishment and recharge, ready to set off on the next leg of your road trip through the Garden Route.
