Sparking Minds
Founded by Hélène-Marie and Raphaël Ceillier, Sparking Minds is a new non-profit organisation based in South Africa and their main focus is helping young children in underprivileged areas with education and social development.
Sparking Minds set up projects providing safe and clean environments for children. One of these was to establish a crèche in Knysna, Born 2 Care, with more than 60 kids attending to date. With the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic and the consequent lockdowns, it was clear that they had to create a sustainable food source for the kids, and the community around the crèche.
Sparking Minds Gardens
They worked with the community and transformed a 300 square meter dump site into a fenced garden with fertile ground. This garden supplies the crèche and a nearby soup kitchen with a variety of fresh vegetables. A second existing garden was identified and helped, and with the increades supply of vegetables, another soup kitchen could be started.
