Calling the Makers of Our Community: Join Artisan Culture 2026

A celebration of craftsmanship, creativity, and culture is set to take centre stage this spring with the launch of Artisan Culture, taking place in Knysna from 24 September to 4 October 2026.

This dynamic, multi-day event will bring together a diverse collective of artisans, makers, and creatives to showcase the very best in handmade, heritage, and contemporary craft. From immersive workshops to vibrant market experiences, Artisan Culture promises to be a rich, sensory journey into the world of artisanal excellence.

Event highlights include:
Interactive Workshops – including sourdough baking, the art of winemaking, chocolate crafting, leatherwork, woodworking, bronze sculpture, and more.

Artisan Market – a curated space for makers to exhibit and sell their work.

Wine Experiences – celebrating vineyards and the craft of winemaking, including a wine tasting experience at the Waterside Wine weekend.

Live Demonstrations & Displays – including woodcraft and other traditional skills.

Collaborative Cultural Experiences – designed to connect artisans with the public in meaningful, hands-on ways.
Organiser Nicci Rousseau-Schmidt is inviting artisans from across the region and beyond to join this exciting programme. “We are creating a platform that celebrates not only the finished product, but the process, the passion, and the people behind it. Artisan Culture is about storytelling through craft, bringing together tradition, innovation, and community.”

Artisans working across all mediums are encouraged to apply, whether they specialise in food, beverage, design, or traditional crafts. This is a unique opportunity to showcase skills, engage with new audiences, and be part of a collaborative cultural movement.
