If you have come from a big city, Knysna and its nightlife may seem a little restrictive. Here in Knysna we focus more on quality than quantity! Main Street offers youngsters a couple of great dancing spots; Zanzibar for example is a lot of fun. For a slightly older crowd there is Bloo, which is walking distance from Zanzibar. At Bloo you’ll also find a great restaurant, mostly only open in the evenings, the unique décor is sure to keep you entertained as are the occasional concerts and guest DJ’s.
A great Friday night venue is Blend, on George Rex Drive. Have a wood fire pizza and listen to some of Knysna’s local bands- you won’t resist a boogie on the dance floor.
Thesen Isle also offers a range of great restaurants/bars. Most of them will have their own cocktail menu and it’s a magnificent spot for sundowners.
If you’re in the mood for a great show, drive along the N2 to The Barnyard Theatre. Take a picnic basket, a couple of friends and a bottle of wine. This cosy and rustic setting will help you to relax and unwind while enjoying a fabulous show; musicians often come from all parts of South Africa to play here.
Lastly, contact the Knysna Music Society which holds their concerts at the NG Kerk on Voortrekker Street. The classical concerts are a fantastic way to catch up on some fine culture. Musicians are both from South Africa and abroad and often there are cd’s to be purchased at the entrance.
