Scenic Drives and Walks

If you’re looking to engage in some “fun for free” activities, then do the Seven Passes Route. The Route is over 75km’s long and is part of Knysna’s unique heritage. Along the Route you will pass along several rivers and little towns which will give you lots of opportunities for photos.

Walks and trails around the Knysna area abounds. If you are in Knysna over the hottest months of the year (between October and March), head to the Jubilee Creek Forest Walk. You will have to pay an entrance fee, but you will get to walk in shady canopies and bath in a swimming hole. Another great  forest walk is the Terblans Forest Walk, an easy circular route which also has a swimming hole.

Walk the Millwood Gold Mine Trail, which is a bit longer at 5.6km and combine the walk with a cultural excursion. You will be able to see the remains of the old mining village and museum of an industrious bygone era.

There are plenty of Beach Walks too. One of the favourites of the area is the Brenton-On-Sea to Buffels Bay walk. The walk is not a long one (about 5km one way), but you must make sure that the tide is low. While the beach is relatively wide, there will be some sections along the way where the way will be very narrow! Take a swimming costume, sun hat, lots of water and a wind breaker (just in case).
