If you are in the mood for adventure, why not try one of the walks at Knysna’s geographical landmarks; the Heads? Accessible only by boat (or kayak!), Featherbed Nature Reserve is a glorious escape from Main Road Knysna. It’s an amazing opportunity to see and photograph Knysna from a different view point. Why not take the opportunity while you’re there to walk the coastal forest trail down to the ancient caves where the Khoi-San people originally settled? A guide will talk you through the history of the ancient settlers as well as give you information about the fauna and flora of the area.
If professional sports are more your thing, join the Cape Argus Cycle Race that happens every year in June/July. The routes vary in difficulty (from easy to PRO) and all trails pass through the Knysna Forest. There is also the Pick ‘n Pay Women’s Walk (walk for Breast Cancer Awareness) that is joined by hundreds of men, women and children each year. The walk is only 5km and is not timed, giving walkers the opportunity to take in the sites of Knysna en route.

The section provides for everyone, from old and youth, to the fit and physically disabled. Stop at Garden of Eden and learn the marked indigenous trees by name as you stroll the forest on a comfortable 800m boardwalk. Picnic, water and ablution facilities are available. The facility is situated between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay, on the N2.
Route: Most of the trail follows fairly easy contours in the indigenous forest and plantation. It is enhanced by winding single-track slip-paths, shady plantation and indigenous forest roads offering a regular bird's eye view of the surrounding area. It is a moderate ride with the exception of a steep 4km climb. A quality ride not requiring advanced technical skills.
