The Garden route is a region that is well-known for its natural beauty. Traditionally it is marketed as a leisure destination, it have the potential to be more than the above, and through clever Destination Management Strategies be developed into a trendy Experiential Tourism Destination instead. Worldwide Food Tourism and Agri-Tourism initiatives are gaining popularity that is how the idea of a Slow Food Tourism Route was conceptualized. Project stakeholders includes Knysna Tourism, South African National Parks and Rural Communities surrounding the National parks, in a project called the Eden Slow food Tourism Route. The Route will include local food producing farms, Agri-Experiences and Activities , Farmstays ,wholefood restaurants ,etc. on the Seven Passes Road (alternative route to George). I want to initiate the project to enhance our visitors experience, which will highlight the wealth of local rural businesses, and the natural beauty this region possesses. The Route will include the area from Plettenberg bay (including their wine estates),Knysna, Sedgefield (as the centre),Karatara, Rheedendal, Wilderness lakes area, Beervlei up to George .
