Segway launches tours in Sedgefield

On Friday 9 of February, Segway Sedgefield was launched at the Mosaic Market where it will be operating from every Saturday morning, which is Market Day for Slow Town Sedgefield.

Tour guide and operator Johnny Innes from Knysna Segway invited local media and tourism officials to try out the off-road, self-balancing, two-wheeled personal transporters and to slow down and explore the natural beauty, mosaic artwork and tortoises that make Sedgefield so unique.

The 2 km course leaves from the Mosaic Market, outside the Slow Roasted Coffee Shop and Roastery and heads first to Sedgefield Island, a conservatory for the local tortoises, where the tortoise sets the pace, and then to the banks of the Sedgefield Estuary at Kingfisher Park.

Travel speed goes up to 20 km per hour and the only requirement for drivers is that they are at least 1.1 m in height, and weigh not less than 45 kg or more than 117 kg.
Says Sedgefield Tourism Manager Belinda Hobson: “This is a great outing for the family and a wonderful way to see Sedgefield. I can highly recommend a ride on a Segway

Personal Transporter - it’s fun and easy to ride as well as being a good way to exercise your upper body.”

The tours can be booked by calling the local Tourism office on 044 343 2007 or Johnny on 064 655 9912. The price is R200 per person per hour.
