The entry process for the ninth running of the Jaguar Simola Hillclimb opened today, 3 October 2017. The event takes place in the stunning Garden Route town of Knysna from 3-6 May 2018.

This is the earliest that entries have opened in the event’s history, being a month earlier than for the 2017 event, and stems from the huge demand for places on the starting grid. With participants limited to 64 for Classic Car Friday and 84 cars for the King of the Hill category, it is sure to be oversubscribed as was the case for the 2015, 2016 and 2017 Jaguar Simola Hillclimbs.

The 2018 event’s entry procedure has changed from a two-stage process this year to a single stage process. Competitors wishing to enter are invited to register their Expression of Interest to enter the event via the online portal at www.jaguarsimolahillclimb.com from 3 October 2017 until the closing date of 26 January 2018.

Expressions of Interest will be duly considered by the Organisers who will then issue an Invitation to Compete to successful applicants by no later than 9 February 2018.

With limited entries available, the Organisers have the difficult task of selecting the final entries. The event is significantly over-subscribed each year, resulting in a number of hopeful competitors being disappointed. In determining which competitors make the final cut, the Organisers consider a number of factors, the overriding consideration being “What is best for the event as a whole.”

The format will be like the 2017 event, with Classic Car Friday for older cars competing on the Friday, and individual King of the Hill titles for the three main types of competing vehicles on Saturday and Sunday. As introduced in 2017 for the first time, King of the Hill will consist of Road Going Saloons and Supercars, Single-seaters and Sportscars, and Modified Saloons. Each category will carry the same level of importance and stature.

This will be the fifth edition of the event with Jaguar South Africa as the title sponsor. Jaguar’s partnership over the past four years has helped lift the event to a new level, with unprecedented interest across the board resulting in a record crowd of over 15 800 attending the event in 2017.

General Entry, Pit and Hospitality tickets will go on sale in November 2017.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Knysna Speed Festival Golf Day

The sixth Knysna Speed Festival Golf Day will be the Speed Festival's charity fund raising event with all proceeds being donated to charity. The day raised R46 500 in 2011, R61 000 in 2012, R65 000 in 2014, R40 000 in 2015 and R59 500 in 2016 for our nominated charities. It will comprise a mix of competitors, sponsors and sponsors' guests, local businessmen, media and others enjoying a round of golf on the Simola Golf Course. This event will provide sponsors the perfect opportunity to network with potential clients in a relaxed (or perhaps not so relaxed!) and informal environment.
