Knysna Slot Car Challenge
Pre-qualifying will take place on Sunday 13th May
Pre-qualifying will take place on Sunday 13th May at the annual Garden Route Motor Club’s car show on the Knysna High School sports field on Waterfront Drive.
There will be no charge to enter the challenge. Everyone from 10 years and older is welcome to try their skills at keeping the Renault Megancars in the slot.
This is a perfect opportunity for Moms, Dads and grandparents to bring their children/ grandchildren to enter the pre-qualifying round for the Slot Car Challenge while they take time out to look at an impressive collection of auto classics on view, intermingled with displays from the local motor trade.
We invite all local schools to motivate and help their learners to get involved in this fantastic opportunity to race scale model Renault Megan cars.
Those successful Slot Car drivers will be notified by sms to attend a practice session on Monday evening 14th May at the Knysna Slot Car Club’s impressive 39m fully computerised 6 lane track upstairs in the Oude Fabriek building opposite Wimpy in Knysna Main street.
On Tuesday 15 May from 18h00 we will host the inter-club Slot Car Challenge between Knysna Slot Car Club and Plettenberg Bay Slot Car Club. We encourage everyone to come and see how the pros race and support your club of choice.
All those that qualify for the Slot Car Challenge will be invited to take part on Wednesday 16 May late afternoon – there are fantastic prises up for grabs.
Spectators are most welcome, refreshments and hot dogs will be available. Should there be enough time we may have a parent challenge race which will prove to be entertaining.
Don’t be disappointed if you don’t get a chance to take control of a slot car because at the Knysna Hill Climb there will be a scaled down version slot car track to keep everybody busy at GasolineAlley. See how fast you can drive your Renault Megan over 10 laps.
