Knysna Tourism has launched www.knysnalivinglocal.co.za - an exciting and informative development website for local community products and experiences.

The beautifully crafted site displays information on all community experiences, from township tours to homestays, art and crafts and dining experiences. The site places all of this information at the fingertips of local and international tour operators and guests planning their itineraries while visiting Knysna.

“The website provides valuable exposure to our local community entrepreneurs,” said Shaun van Eck, CEO of Knysna Tourism. “Each member has his or her own dedicated webpage that describes the enterprise in detail. Information on what guests may expect to see and experience, directions to the particular business as well as pricelists are available at the touch of a button or the click of a mouse.”

Van Eck said the website also acts as a valuable marketing tool. “Many of these members do not have the means to advertise on a large scale. With this website, Knysna Tourism affords them this possibility.”

Knysna Tourism Development Officer Glendyrr Fick runs an extensive programme during the year to promote small and medium tourism enterprises, and said the website was a vital information sharing tool. “International and national tourists can now browse and plan their trip before they even arrive in our area. The website also compliments our SMME showcases and other development programmes, and contributes to make the owners of these products more confident to use online media.” Knysna Tourism also launched www.knysnatourismmembership.co.za – a website built specifically for members of the organisation. “This website provides business, legal and practical resources for our members,” said Aneli Gerber, Knysna Tourism membership liaison manager. “Accessible information ranges from health and safety guidelines for tourism businesses and municipal bylaws to information on visitor safety and security and disaster management. Online membership application forms are also available.”

Gerber launched the new Knysna Tourism website, www.visitknysna.co.za, a few months ago and said the site is doing fantastically well. “Hubspot’s website grader has rated this website to be in the top 91% of the hundreds of thousands of sites that have been graded by them.” She said that the Knysna Seasonal Guide booklet, previously only available in its printed A5 format, can now also be viewed page by page via the website.

CEO Shaun van Eck said that Knysna Tourism is continuously adapting to ensure they meet the requirements of the technological age. “To reap the benefits from this technology for our members and our town, we are constantly working to increase our presence on the Internet and urge residents of the greater Knysna area to visit us online.”
