Knysna Tourism Youth Career Exhibition Prepares Youth For The Future
As part of National Tourism Month Knysna Tourism in conjunction with the Western Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism, will be hosting a Youth Career Exhibition, funded by the department.

The exhibition will take place over the course of two days: from 10:00 until 17:00 on the 22nd and 23rd of September 2009. "Children form an important part of the Tourism Month activities," said Glendyrr Fick, Knysna Tourism Development Officer. "Approximately 200 learners from the previously disadvantaged community in the greater Knysna area and Eden Municipal District will attend this event." These learners are all from organisations that deal with tourism development issues, arts, culture and crafts.
The BMW Love Life Centre will host the first day which is targeted at learners from grade 9 to 11. Various tertiary educational institutions and local stakeholders will exhibit informative displays featuring the various career and entrepreneurship possibilities in the tourism industry. The second day takes place at The Moorings and is aimed at school leavers facing the harsh reality and possibility of unemployment after school. The day not only features a tourism enterprise program, but Career Planet will be on hand to divulge valuable and practical information ranging from writing CV's to the correct behaviour during an interview.
"Knysna Tourism realises the importance of exposing our children to the world of possibilities that awaits them in the tourism industry," said Shaun van Eck, Knysna Tourism CEO. "It provides them with new and exciting opportunities after school and ensures that Knysna continues to evolve as a town dependant on the tourist economy. The old adage holds true - the children truly are our future."
