4th KNYSNA TOURISM SMME SHOWCASE BRINGS BUSINESS TOURISM TO THE PEOPLE
The 4th Knysna Tourism SMME (Small Medium and Micro Enterprises) Showcase will be held at and sponsored by the Knysna Square Shopping Centre (Checkers centre) on Friday 11 September from 10:00 until 15:30.
According to Knysna Tourism CEO Shaun van Eck the showcase was established as a platform for local tourism SMME's to market their products to the public at large. "Main stream trade shows are geared to serve more established businesses and many SMME's don't have the financial means to exhibit at these shows. Not only does the showcase bridge this gap, it also presents the visiting public with the opportunity to learn more about the tourism offerings in the local communities."
Knysna Tourism Development Officer Glendyrr Fick said that the event has grown significantly since its inception in 2008. "We had 15 participants at the first SMME Showcase in December last year and we are expecting 20 exhibitors to take part on Friday." Displays will include community caterers, home-stays, self-catering establishments, crafters and community upliftment organisations. "Red Door will also take part in this event that presents operators with an excellent networking opportunity," Fick concluded.
Residents of the greater Knysna area are all encouraged to visit the showcase. "Knysna is well known for its natural beauty and traditionally leisure activities. The true purpose of this showcase is to inform residents of the wealth of community experiences awaiting them in their own backyard," van Eck explained.


Knysna Tourism Smmme Showcase receive support from Knysna Square Shopping Centre
On Friday the 11 September 2009, Knysna Tourism along with the Knysna Square is supporting the 4rth Knysna Tourism Smme Showcase.We will have 18 SMME's participating in the the Showcase ranging from Home Stays ,Community Centres, Tour
Guides , ect.The Knysna Tourism Showcase provide local Tourism Small business an excellent Marketing and Networking forum. With this Showcase we want to create awareness of the various Tourism Enterprises in the Local Communities,and will also have Knysna Red Door as an exhibitor at the Showcase, which is an excellent business assistance portal for potential entrepreneurs who want to venture in any business industry ,and not only Tourism . We want to encourage locals to put thought to it, and start Tourism Entrepreneur ventures, statistics prove that is actually during recessions, similar to which we are currently experiencing that true entrepreneurs are born
