Make your way to Africa’s first official ‘Slow Town’ to celebrate the Slow Festival from the 5th-9th April 2012.

Perfectly situated, Sedgefield is fast becoming a great family destination. The town is all about the outdoors; Sedgefield is a beautiful seaside village surrounded entirely by vegetated sand dunes, fynbos and lakes. It offers a myriad of fabulous family fun! Make your way to Africa’s first official ‘Slow Town’ to celebrate the Slow Festival from the 5th-9th April 2012.

The Slow Festival is held over Easter every year is unique in many ways. Only one of its kind in Africa, it’s a festival celebrating the real things in life: Wholesome Goodness, Family, Friends, Fun, the Outdoors and Great food. There are plenty of activities for the children and indeed the whole family to do. There is entertainment galore, much to see, great competitions to be won and best of all, many deserving charities are supported by monies raised during the festival.

Not to be missed are a variety of exciting events including the Flying Bunny Beach Fling and Egg Dash, the Sand Sculpting Challenge, Whacky Pedalo Race, GeoSlow Treasure Hunt, Mad Hatters Tea Party and Easter Monday sports day to entertain children and adults alike. The infamous markets provide delectable foods, the best coffee and the ever popular organic products, arts and crafts to all whilst the Boulle Competition, Art in the Park, Paragliding Challenge, Dog Walk & fun show and Live musicians ensure entertainment around the clock.

Undoubtedly the highlight of the festival is the parade through town with the newly crowned Miss Slow Festival Queen, creature puppets by Roger Titley (of soccer world cup fame), giant dragons and more providing a spectacular entourage for the event.

With some of the finest dining along the Garden Route, a new addition to this great festival will be the Slow Food and Wine Marquee which will offer visitors the opportunity to sample fine wines from some award-winning estates and indulge in mouth-watering dishes created by the town’s highly acclaimed chefs. Added to this will be the Slow Food Cook-off, sure to create a culinary stir!

Be sure to make the Slow Festival an annual calendar highlight and a weekend of unparalleled family fun and discovery. Book into any of the town’s quaint and affordable guesthouses and B&B’s and explore all that our Slow Town has to offer- on foot, by bike or by horse-drawn carriage.

For more information visit the Slow Festival website (www.slowfestival.co.za).
