Individual Rider Format
SA’s 1st Individual-Only Mountain Bike Stage Race

From winners to warriors, you’re free to ride!
The consensus was overwhelming, the change to individual mountain bike race was a big thumbs up. What a smackdown we saw at the front end of the race – there is no hiding in a team and the exact form of every top rider is evident.

2020 Knysna Bull prize money to be announced
2019 saw flat-out mountain bike racing. We want to see this again in 2020 and look forward to announcing the winner takes all prize purse later this year.

The Knysna Equilibrium
To have enough kilometers to fully stress-test the winners and still be riding-bliss for the warriors is the goal. The 60 – 70km mountain bike stages had both riders collapse at the finish and the Red Bridge draught flattened. This seemed like the sweet spot.

Timed vs Liaison
Hill-top Mountain Bike Finishes

The Remote Finish
It’s been used well in the Dakar Rally for years and we tested the concept in 2019. We placed the timing finish at a strategically interesting point out on the route and not at the usual finish. With hill-top finishes, we saw nail-biting moutain bike racing. Gone are flat race village finishes. We’ll be looking to push the rider experience further at the 2020 Knysna Bull.

Daily Knysna Waterfront Lunch

Recover in Style
Each stage ends at the Knysna Waterfront where riders eat at the water’s edge. Inclusive in the entry package is a proper lunch from one of the 5 top local restaurants. After riding the forest and mountain bike trails it’s fitting to enjoy the best of Knysna food and Red Bridge draught on tap.
