The Romantix are set to perform live at the new Octopus Garden Under the Sea at Scarab Village on the 1 April 2017. This refreshing, upbeat duo is made up of Alex and Lucy Tops, in a Benefit Performance of Beatles/50&60s/Romantic Music, in aid of local NPO Masithandane.
Alex Tops has performed in theatre productions such as Shakespeare’s 'The Taming of the Shrew', 'The Great Gatsby', the grand-scale opera, 'Lost in the Stars', the hit musical 'The Sound of Music' at Artscape and Showboat, which travelled to Paris and the UK. He played in FollowSpot Productions’ musical romance ‘Bar None’ at the Kalk Bay Theatre and last year’s opening run of Bon Soir at the National Arts Festival.
Lucy Tops has been working as a freelance performing artist/actress for the last 8 years, performing in commercials, film, music tribute shows, musicals and cabarets in South Africa and overseas, including China and Australia. Highlights include the Fugard Theatre’s Rocky Horror Show where she got to perform as the usherette singing the famous Science Fiction song. She has performed in many of Followspot Productions’ shows including Another Day, Bon Soir, Big Girls, Absolucy, Face The Music and Bar None (for which she was nominated for a Fleur du Cap). She was also the sole performer in Absolucy, a sell-out one woman cabaret show at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown.
