Featherbed Eco Experience
The Western Head that flanks the mouth of the Knysna Estuary is one of Knysna’s last remaining natural vestiges within this bourgeoning urban landscape. Unlike its Eastern counterpart it is largely undeveloped and offers a glimpse of our floristic heritage of yesteryear. The preservation of this private nature reserve has earned it a place in the list of South Africa’s Heritage Sites and is well worth a visit. It is accessible by ferry only and once there visitors enjoy a lovely eco experience, which includes a drive up the headland, stopping at awesome viewpoints en route while a specialist guide informs you on the history of the area and the unique fauna and flora. There is an optional walk through coastal forest and into sea caves. The tour ends with a buffet lunch under ancient milkwood trees.
