With the fire disaster hitting Knysna on the 7th of June there has been a lot of concern about the future of tourism and its impact on the economy and in particular job losses because of accommodation establishments and other businesses which have gone up in flames.

The offices have been hard at work answering questions, giving interviews and generally updating the world about what is happening. Here’s an overview:
Meeting Margie Whitehouse, Chief Marketing Officer of SATourism and Linda Pampallis, CEO of Thompsons Africa and Board Director of Cullinan Holdings Limited (incl. Ikapa Tours, Grosvenor Tours, Springbok Atlas and others), Minister Alan Winde (Minister of Agriculture, Economic Development and Tourism of the Western Cape).

Minister Winde and Linda Pampallis meeting Clive and Liezl Battel of the Knysna Hollow, which went up in flames.

Interviews for KykNet, Sunday Times, Cape Talk, Travel24 and many more.

Minister Winde and National Minister of Tourism Tokozile Xasa visiting the Knysna Visitor Information Center.
